Moulin Rouge
| Wizard Rating:  Ewan McGregor and Nicole Kidman. This is a superfreaky Alice in Wonderland / Night Before Christmas / Studio 54 / Crow conglomeration - all mixed up into a giant ball of goo and deep fried in absenth laced with acid. The beginning is filled with so many fast cuts that I almost re-experienced my lunch. Excessively saturated colors and extremely annoying characters did nothing to ease my queasy stomach. However, all this having been said, the movie's $52.5 million budget shows through. It's a freaky, cartoonish plasticolor world in your face for over 2 hours. Enjoy the modern music seamlessly integrated into the film, including Fatboy Slim's techno, Beck's version of David Bowie's "Diamond Dogs", Christina Aguilera, Lil' Kim, Mya and Pink's cover of "Lady Marmalade," Madonna, and more. Smoke a doobie before you go and you might escape without a headache to go along with your newfound stunned sense of movie going adventure.
