Maybe we should all read the book first....the screenplay adaption is so full of holes that it might leave you wondering if anything really happened at all. Was it all a dream? It certainly seemed like a dream... nothing really makes sense because your "that can't happen" sensors are disabled. It's like a moldy swiss cheese festival or something....it just doesn't come together.

I'm sure the book was just slap happy full of logic and explanation, but 2 hours wouldn't be enough time to maintain any sense of linear reality now would it? I think the guy who spliced this thing together snorts crack cocaine out of his boyfriend's ass on a regular basis. The man who wrote this book (Gene Brewer) defiinitly cries at night because of this. If Gene had the good fortune to meet the producer/director/dumb fuck who was responsible, he may have possibly managed to allow things like "you can't leave it like this," or "this sucks," or "work me like an old mule, I hate you and your dog." to escape from his lips before killing himself.

Mary McCormack is the only female of any interest here. She gets out of bed once but failed to display any naughty spots.

Kevin Spacey is the man. He is my hero. That's how good he is. He's so good he makes me want to help the homeless and stop drinking coffee. He's so fucking good that baby Jesus even cries when Kevin performs. Watch for Kevin as be becomes a small boy during Hypnotic regression. It's simply addora-tastic!

The other good thing about this movie is that even though I'm sure the producers realized that they were re-making Starman and One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, they completely failed to introduce any new ideas. They even used Jeff Bridges again. There's still a nutbag doing cool nutty things - and there's still an alien from outer space wowing scientists, giving you that super fresh tingly feeling all over. I even felt like playing tennis, or going horsback riding after this one - which is worth eight bucks anyday.
