Mary McCormack Primarily a television actress, Mary McCormack launched her film career by appearing in three films in 1997, including Private Parts, the autobiography of radio personality Howard Stern, in which she played his wife Allison. McCormack's television credits include a recurring role as a clever attorney on the courtroom drama Murder One and guest-starring appearances in series such as Law & Order. McCormack established herself as an actress at age 12, when she appeared in a production of Menotti's opera Ahmal and the Night Visitors. The New Jersey-born and -raised actress later attended Trinity College and gained professional acting experience in New Jersey and, later, New York. ~ Sandra Brennan, All Movie Guide Mary McCormack, the actress chosen to play Howard's wife Alison, began her acting career performing in Menotti's Christmas opera, "Amahl and the Night Visitors." "I was twelve but looked like an eight-year-old boy," she recalls. "As luck would have it, none of the boys in town could sing, so I got the part and wore a hat." Mary continued working regionally throughout New Jersey and continued her education at Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut. At Trinity, she majored in English and painting and continued her stage work in many more musicals. Since arriving in New York, Mary finished an acting program at the William Esper Studio. She has worked in many New York theaters, some of which include The Atlantic Theatre Company, Alice's 4th Floor, and Naked Angels, where she recently appeared in Jon Robin Baitz's "A Fair Country." Mary's television credits include "Law and Order" and "The Wright Verdicts." Her feature film work includes "Miracle on 34th Street" and a starring role in "Backfire," with Robert Mitchum. Mary enjoys reading and painting. Among her special talents, she lists that she can "palm a basketball and speak fluent gibberish." |
